Türisalu is where the Baltic Klint reaches the sea west of Tallinn. The cliff runs a few hundred metres and stands around thirty metres at its highest, with an open grassy top, no railing, and the Gulf of Finland spread out below. Its accessibility from the city is both the appeal and the problem.
What you actually see
A flat grassy clifftop that ends abruptly, a pale banded rock face below, and a boulder shore at the bottom. On a clear day you can see along the coast in both directions and out towards the Pakri islands.
The path along the top runs right to the edge in places, and the sunsets - straight out over the water in summer - are why most people come.
When to go
- Summer evenings - sunset over the sea, which is the best version of the place.
- Winter - ice on the face, sharp air, and almost nobody there.
- Autumn storms - the sea breaking on the boulders below.
Honest expectations
There is no fence and the edge is undercut and crumbling in places. This cliff has a bad safety record, and standing or sitting on the lip for a photograph is exactly how the accidents happen. Stay back from the edge and keep hold of children.
It is a viewpoint and nothing more - the visit is short.

Keila-Joa waterfall and manor park are ten minutes away. Rummu quarry and the Pakri peninsula are both within half an hour.
