Fjords Team
A small independent team that writes and edits free reference sites. Meridiela is one of them.
Who we are
We are a small group based in Estonia, writing reference material for people who want a straight answer rather than a sales pitch. We are not a media company and not a travel agency, and nobody pays us to feature a place. Everything here is free to read, with no paywall, no registration and no account.
How we write
- Answer first. The first paragraph tells you what a place is and whether it is worth your day. The detail follows.
- Honest about the downsides. If somewhere is crowded in July, underwhelming in the rain, or a two-hour drive for a ten-minute look, we say so.
- Evergreen over timely. We avoid publishing prices, opening hours and timetables, because they go stale and a stale fact is worse than no fact. We point to the official source instead.
- No invented experts. Everything is published under Fjords Team. We do not dress research up as first-hand experience we have not had, and we do not attach fake bylines or review badges.
What we will not do
- Rank places we were paid to rank, or accept payment for inclusion.
- Review individual restaurants, bars or hotels we have not visited - which is why this site covers food by district and dish, not by venue.
- Pass off generated images as photographs. Our header images are illustrations and are labelled as such; genuine photos appear separately with the photographer credited.
- Copy other people's photography. Real photos are used only under licences that allow it, with attribution.
Corrections
Places change, trails get rerouted and museums close for renovation. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it - corrections are the cheapest way to keep a reference honest. Write to hello@meridiela.com.
Sources
We build entries from national park and heritage authorities, municipal tourism offices, museum and site operators, and mapping data, then cross-check anything that looks unusual. Where a claim is genuinely uncertain, the page says so rather than guessing.
